1st December, 2021 : World AIDS Day was observed here in Aizawl by Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) organizing a rally, the State’s Health & Family Minister Dr R. Lalthangliana led the morning rally from Vanapa Hall to Millenium Centre.

Speaking on the occasion at Millennium Centre courtyard the Health & Family Welfare Minister reported that highest numbers of the newly infected by the virus are between 19-49 age group, which indicate that the virus has been penetrating into the general population group. He reiterated that MSACS alone will cannot fight HIV prevalence in the state, so with TI NGOs and its developing partners along with the church must work together in the fight against this disease.

Dr. Lalthangliana launched ‘Index Testing’ programme, an initiative of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and MSACS. The health minister also distributed Jacket for the Two-Wheeler Taxi drivers and seat Cover for car taxi driver to carry condoms for those needing it. Family Welfare Department Secretary Mr. R. Lalramnghaka, who also took part in the rally said that despite the ongoing covid-19 pandamic causing some hindrance, the fight against HIV/AIDS cannot be slowed down as the the prevalance rate in the state remains alarmingly high.
