ANTI-RETROVIRAL THERAPY (ART) CENTRE LAUNCHED AT SIAHA

Anti-Retroviral Therapy ART (ART) Centre launching programme was held at Siaha  on the 21st July, 2020 District Hospital’s Conference Hall. Launching programme of ART was presided over by Dr. C. Lalrosanga, District Medical Superintendent  and Shri. Bhupesh Chaudhary IAS, DC attended the programme as the chief guest.

In his launching speech Shri.Bhupesh informed the audience about the steady; yet progressive stride made in health infrastructures in Siaha district. He said “Truenat machine has arrived and its installation is underway with fast pace; as of now Siaha district is the only district which has functional Mobile Medical Unit(MMU) in the whole of Mizoram.” He added “We have got one more Ambulance recently from Corporate Social Responsibility fund and today we launched ART Centre. An agglomeration of such small initiatives and projects which eventually leads to giant leap.”

Dr.Richard CLR HLuna, Epidemiologist, MSACS who had come from Aizawl with his team for launching of ART; also delivered a short speech; and said that a total of 50 ARTs were sanctioned during last final year, in the whole of India and out of 50 ARTs, Mizoram state got 2 ARTs which were Serchhip ART & Siaha ART.

ART are the medications that treat HIV. The drugs didn’t kill or cure the the virus, However, when taken in combination they can prevent the growth of virus and reduce its transmission to others . When the virus is slowed down; so is the HIV disease. Antiretrovial Drugs are referred to as ARV; Combination ARV therapy( ARV) is referred to as highly active ART(HAART
